This could be an eBook, Special Report or even a Video about something that helps them solve a problem or address an issue.

Make sure that you give them value, not junk. Think of it like this – if it’s not something that you could sell, then do not try to give it to them. This will create a negative impact on your creditability.

Step #1 – Start with a targeted segment in a profitable niche. You want to make sure you attract the right type of prospect.

Step #2 – Create/Acquire an eBook, Special Report, Audio or Video that helps your prospects and clients solve their problem.

Step #3 – Create a bold headline and your promotional message for your free offering.

Step #4 – Integrate a subscriber sign-up form using Aweber, Constant Contact, Mail Chimp or your favorite eMail List Management Solution.

Step #5 – Create a 5-7 part Autoresponder Campaign. Use this series to establish & build relationship with your prospective clients. Continue to add value by providing free and low cost content that they need address their challenges, fulfill their desires or accomplished their goals.

Step #6 – Continue to follow-up, create new campaigns and provide on-going value that will make a difference for them – like new products, programs and affiliate offers.

Step #7 – Be authentic, share yourself & your life with your list subscribers. Provide them with insights about your family, accomplishments, short comings and success.

Step #8 – Promote your free product offer everywhere you can – Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Ning, Email Signatures, Article Bio, Post Cards, TV/Radio, Speaking, etc.

Step #9 – Encourage your current subscribers to share your free offer with their personal email lists & social networks – like facebook friends, twitter followers, linked-in connections, ning networks, etc.

Usually, I tell them that winning at the Search Engine Game is one of the most effective ways to promote your website and build your company.

However, it is not the easiest game to play. It takes planning, preparation and patience. It takes selecting the right keyword phrases and creating website content that is useful to the reader and keyword focused.

After wards, you will want to analyze and optimize your website pages so that the search engines will consider them credible and relevant. There are a number of internet marketing companies out there promoting that they know the “secrets” to search engine placement.

The fact of the matter is…there are no real “secrets”. It takes a combination of strategies like: (1) keyword focused content that is relevant, (2) useful and valuable content, (3) keyword placement & density, (4) website page & meta tag descriptions, as well as, (5) a unique mix of inbound and outbound referring links.

As you can see, it is a fairly simple formula. However, there is a method to the madness. There are also some very specific strategies that work better than others.

To really be successful, takes planning, preparation and patience. It takes selecting the right keyword phrases and creating website content that is useful to the reader and keyword focused.

Here are seven proven steps to help you win at the search engine marketing game:

Step #1 – SEO Keyword Analysis & Selection

Identifying the keywords or keyword phrases is the next step in creating an effective internet marketing strategy. Starting with a few root terms or phrases, you can conduct an extensive analysis of at least 300 keywords and how frequently they are search for over the internet each month.

There are a lot of tools out there to help you conduct your keyword analysis. Here are a few to help you get started:

This analysis tells will tell you exactly what your prospects want and their demand for it. Begin your research with a root keyword phrase. This should be a broad term based on your niche. You will have an opportunity to refine your list later.

After conducting the initial Keyword Phrase Analysis, you are now prepared to begin identifying the absolute best words and phrases for your marketing strategies and content development.

Identify and select 10 -15 winnable keyword phrases that best match your prospective client’s searches. Typically, you will want to select phrases with 4,000 – 6,000 local monthly searches. These phrases will be easier to gain top positions on major search engines like Google, Yahoo & Bing.

You may also find some great phrases in the 1,000 – 3,000 range. They are much easier. However, you will have to use more than above. Either way, you are in good shape!

Step #2 – Create High Value – Keyword Focused Content

Once you have selected your winnable keyword phrases, it is now time to create some content. This content should include the desired keyword phrase in the title, first paragraph and last paragraph. Try to use it in the body of you article or blog where possible. Remember not to over do it. About 2% – 4% should do the trick.

When adding video or audio content to your website, you can still use an abbreviated version of this strategy.

• Opening Paragrah with keyword phrase in 1st sentence.
• [ Video or Audio Content ]
• Closing Paragraph & Call To Action with keyword phrase in last sentence.

This is also useful when placing your video/audio on YouTube, iTunes, Vimeo and other similar websites.

Step #4 – Video Development & Distribution

As you may already know, online video is the new trend in internet marketing. Video is a highly effective way to communicate with your prospects and clients.

If you create some videos related to your site and then distribute them to sites like YouTube, you can get some quality backlinks coming into your site. Shortly after your video is posted, other website owners will put your video on their sites and share it with the world for you.

This has a double benefit in that you get good backlinks and you can also get lots of traffic from these sites. If the videos you’ve created are interesting and add value, viewers will share them with there social networks and it  may even go viral.

Step #5 – Article Writing & Distribution

As a marketer, your goal is to reach your prospective customers. You strive to deliver a message that will help make a sale or get a new subscriber. When you submit articles, you achieve those objectives. The process sweeping the internet is called “article marketing”.

Article marketing allows you to become known, build credibility, and establish a relationship with your target audience using the web sites they are already visiting. There is no need to waste your time, effort or money marketing to a general, untargeted audience.

Speak directly to a specific audience who is already showing an interest in what you have to offer. Post your articles in the newsletters that your target audience subscribes to. Get your articles published on the websites that they are visiting. Have your words included in the RSS feeds of the most popular sites on the net. Article marketing lets you speak directly to your perfect customer.

Step #6 – Social Networking & Bookmarking

Social bookmarking sites enable people to bookmark all their favorite sites and pages in one central place (examples include Digg, Propeller, and Delicious). You can bookmark your own stuff to help market it to other people and to get a backlink to your site. An even better approach, however, is to create great content that people will automatically want to add to their own social bookmarking accounts.

There are several sites out there that enable you to create pages on a particular topic and then include a link back to your site. Such sites include Squidoo, Hubpages, and Scribd. All of these sites are regarded as high-authority by Google, so links from them to your site can really help improve your rankings.

Another great place to submit your content and get high value backlinks are niche ning networks, online forums and groups. Spend some time getting to know the members and find out what they want. When you see an opportunity to provide a useful solutions to their needs, submit your articles or videos. In this way, they will appreciate it and most likely respect your recommendations.

As you know, Facebook is the biggest Social Networks on the Planet. In 2010, studies show there are over 500 Million people using Facebook for games, marketing and connecting with friends. The opportunity here is to join groups and fan pages where your targeted niche market members are hanging out. Similar to ning networks, online forums and groups, you will want to spend some time getting to know the members and find out what they want. When you see an opportunity to provide a useful solutions to their needs, submit your articles or videos.

Step #7 – Online Website Directory Submission

It is very important to make sure that your website is listed with local, regional & national online directories. Depending on the types of products or services that you offer, you may even want to be listed in international directories.

Submitting to directories is a critical step in announcing your website to the world. New directories are born every day which means that continuous submission is required for established sites as well. Directories drive targeted visitors and increase the popularity of your website on Search engines.

To find a list of directories related to your industry, simply search for it on Google or your favorite search engine.

Conclusion – Putting It All Together

Winning the Search Engine Game is an ongoing process of selecting winnable keywords, creating high-value content and quality backlinks. The more you do, the better you rank. The better you rank, more people visit your website. More visitors = more profit. It is just that simple!

Hi, this is Jonn Thomas and I’m here to talk to you a little bit about the three things that you need to be successful online, and actually could be the three things you need to be successful in business.  I’m actually shooting this video in Durham at the Marriott Hotel I’ve been here all weekend at a conference. The conference is over we went to eat, everybody had a good time. I thought I would come back and share a few things. I have been thinking about doing it all day and I left my tripod upstairs. So, It’s evening time so I’m shooting it in the hallway of the meeting rooms.

The thing that I would like to talk to you about today is the three things that you need to grow your business online or to just be successful online. It’s only three.

Step 1 – How to Make Extra Money Online – Profitable Product or Service

The first thing is you need a product or a service, that people already are buying.  A product or service that people need. A product or service that solves a problem. It addresses a challenge that they are having. Not something you have just made up, hoping that it’s going to be the thing that’s going to save the world. You want to do a little research.  Find out what people are looking for and provide them with that. Maybe it’s a twist on an existing product or service. Whatever it is, you want to find a product or service that there is already a demand for.  And, how do you know there is a demand?  There are magazines about the area, there are searches on Google about the area. There’s maybe you see commercials about that particular area. They’re already spending money in it.  That’s the first thing you need a product or service that is going to satisfy their needs.  Fulfill on a need, help them resolve a challenge. Help make their life better.  Something like that. First thing.

Step 2 – How to Make Extra Money Online – Effective One-Page Website

Second thing you need is a website.   That’s it.  A simple website, it could be a one page website, depending on what you’re offering.  If you are only offering one product or service you create the whole website just to promote and sell that product or service. One page website.  You know, of course you’re going to have like an order form and then a thank you form,  but pretty much what they are going to see is a one page website. Either way, you need a website. Maybe it’s a blog, and you have the products or services integrated in that blog. But you’re going to need a website.  You need a product or service that people already want.  Second thing you need is a website.

Step 3 – How to Make Extra Money Online – Traffic, Traffic, Traffic

The third thing you need is traffic. Now, you’re probably wondering why am I telling you this.  This seems pretty simple.  I need a product that people want to buy or service that fulfills their needs. You know helps them address their problems, address their challenges, solve their problems, makes their life better. And a website.  You would think that everybody knows that, but believe it or not a lot of people don’t. Sometimes people will have a product or service, but there is no demand for it. They came up with a great idea.  They think it’s wonderful.  They go out and market it and they have a hard time marketing it.  So, if you start with something that people are already buying, maybe it’s something someone else has created already. Or something that you have done a lot of research on and you know people are buying it because people ARE BUYING IT. With me? The website, if you’re going to be online you’ve gotta be on your website.

The third thing you need is traffic. Traffic. Traffic. Traffic. And there’s tons of ways to create traffic online. All types of ways to create traffic online. But you’re gonna need some traffic, whether your traffic is gonna be through pay per click.  Where you actually buy ads on Google or Facebook for pennies on the dollar. And when a person clicks on that ad they come to your website. And then they get to determine whether or not they want to buy your product or service. If you are offering something that you are already buying then your ad should just pull them into your website. And when they get into your website, your homepage or your sales page should do the rest of the work on having them wanting to buy your product or service.

You could use Search Engine Optimization, where you find the key words that people are searching for and you optimize other content on your website, or other content on other websites, like articles or videos or things of that nature, and you use that to drive people to your website.

Another way of generating traffic is to create great content.  Which I said in another video, I don’t know if you have seen that one already or not.  Create great content and share it with your social network. Share it on Facebook, share it with your fans, if you have a fan page, or like page.  Share with your Twitter followers; share it with the people you are connected to on LinkedIn. And I use those very specifically, and you may even want to put it on YouTube if it’s a video. You might even want to distribute the video.

So you’ve got pay per click, in which you pay for the traffic.  You’ve got Search Engine Optimization where you find the right key word that’s going to drive the type of traffic you want to have come to your website and buy your products and services.  And social media marketing and I just started with very, very basics:  Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube.  So, there is it.  That’s the simplest way for now.

There are other ways you can go about finding products. There are lots of ways you  can go about creating your website. There are tons of ways you can go about generating traffic to your website.  And some of the articles that you might find on one of my websites, (MicrobizMarketing.com), will tell the seven(7) secrets to wining at the search engines or the nine(9) steps to building up your mailing list or all kinds of ways about creating your own website. Summary – How to Make Extra Money Online – Just 3 Steps

So, remember three things.  A product or service that people already are buying, they need it.  And if they are not already buying it may be because it doesn’t exist in the marketplace.  And even if it doesn’t exist in the marketplace and you identify that there’s a need for it, and you start talking to people about it.  You start doing a little light promoting and light research and people are actually willing to pay you money.  And they pay you the money through your PayPal account or Google Checkout or write you a check.  Whatever it is that they do then that’s a product or service that people are buying.  Second thing you need a website.  You will need an online website.  I recommend that you get your own domain name, so that you have total control, don’t take a chance and do this with a free domain.  You can go to MicroBizHosting.com and buy your own domain name. I can’t remember how much it is right now, $6, $7, $8 or something like that and a hosting account for something as low as $5 a month or $8-$9 per month.  It’s not that expensive. So will need to create a website.  We use wordpress, I love wordpress.  WordPress is really easy to use, there are all kinds of tools and plugins and advice about using word press.  So for creating your website, I would use WordPress, if it’s just a simple one page website you might want to use something else. And then you need traffic. And you’ve got all kinds of ways for traffic.  You can buy the traffic; you can use Search Engine Optimization by creating great content with keywords and use that as a way to generate traffic in your search engines, you can use social media marketing (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube) and other social media marketing outlets to drive traffic. There you have it – you’re on your way. You get those three and then build on that.
